Afghan Cuisine | Mavimore

Afghan cuisine is based on meat and rice. People prefer to use bread instead of cutlery while eating. There are three main types of bread: naan, obi non and lavash. Naan, a thin, oval, long and white bread, is cooked with opium or sesame seeds. Uzbek bread, obi non, is thinner than naan and has a disk shape. Lavash is the thinnest type and is used especially when eating meat dishes. Rice cooked in different styles in Afghanistan shows the welfare level of families. Rich families eat rice at one meal every day. Rice is indispensable, especially at weddings. Chalao is a type of casserole dish made with parboiled white rice.
