‘God created the world, the Dutch created the Netherlands.’ Netherlands, founded as a fishing village in the 12th century. This developing country has acquired plenty of land with the dams it has dried and made these places livable. The location of Schiphol Airport was created by the draining of a large lake. We do not miss the May 19 holiday and buy our plane tickets months in advance and make our Amsterdam holiday plans. Many airlines have flights from Istanbul, it is very profitable to buy your ticket early. For detailed information about transportation, you can read how to get to Amsterdam. Our flight takes approximately 3.5 hours. As soon as we collect our luggage, we take the train from the airport to reach the city center from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. One-way train fare is 4.5 Euros. To go to Central station in the center, you need to take the Amsterdam Central station. Güçlü, as always, chose our hotel in the area where transportation is easiest. The thing he pays most attention to during our holidays is the location of the hotel 🙂 We get off the train at Central Station and after about an 8-10 minute walk, we arrive at our hotel. I would also like to point out that Amsterdam nights are quite lively. It was around 22:00 when the plane landed and it was still not completely dark 🙂 When I saw this, we realized that very long days were waiting for us. Amsterdam is an easy city to visit. Almost all of the places to visit are located in a semicircle with Central Station at its center. 90% of the city’s population lives outside this area, where tourists never go. There is incredible bicycle traffic in the city, be careful not to walk on the bicycle path while walking on the road; They are everywhere, they can appear in unexpected places and in unexpected ways. Here, bicycles are not used for hobby purposes but as a serious means of transportation. Even when we said that it would be difficult to return after walking for hours, let’s turn towards the center, we realized that we had actually turned around and come to places very close to the center. 3 days are more than enough to visit Amsterdam. The square culture in European cities is very broad and valid. Even in the smallest cities, it is possible to find larger squares than the squares we consider the largest. Dam Square is such a square for Amsterdam. Red Light District: In this area, there are brothels of the city. However, these are displayed in showcases, outside the style you know. While you are walking on the street, you look at the women in the window. This is also the center of Sex Shows. “Casa Rosso Theater” is the Sex Show venue where you can comfortably go with your partner or friend and have a truly interesting experience. People go here purely for touristic purposes, but you may have to wait in line even at 2:00 in the morning 🙂 Let me also point out that taking photographs is prohibited in these streets. The Red Light District is an area created as a result of the state’s desire to keep prostitution under control. Employees here undergo regular health checks and pay taxes. Vondelpark Vondelpark is a large park in tiny Amsterdam that you cannot find in Istanbul. When you enter, you can truly escape from the city. Ideal for both walking and cycling. While visiting the park, we mostly thought about how such a crowded area could have such peaceful greenery and how it could be preserved. There were no huge barbecues, huge smokes, huge rugs laid on the grass, garbage bags flying around like in Turkey:) A green area as much as possible, trees, flowers and hundreds of bicycles… They carried food, drinks and tiny embers in the crates placed in front of their bicycles. 30-40 cm disposable barbecues with aluminum appearance are sold… Even though it is so crowded, it is quiet enough that you can rest your mind. Amsterdam Canals Amsterdam Canals are called the “Venice of the North”. Let’s not forget to mention that Venice had a special place. You can take pleasant walks on the canals. It will definitely catch your attention while walking along the canals; Houses are placed on the water in some canals, and many yachts are used as living spaces. I recommend that you visit the canals after sunset rather than during the day. You may encounter very beautiful colors. There are many companies offering canal tours and many types in the city, and their prices vary depending on the tour you choose. Madame Tussauds – (Wax Museum) A branch of the wax museum chain, the most famous of which is in London, is also in Amsterdam. If you haven’t been to a wax museum before, I recommend you spend a few hours here. Its location is in Dam Square. The sculptures reflect so much reality that you will be surprised. I Amsterdam Card (Touristic Travel Card) can be economical for you if you want to visit museums. With this card, you can enter around 20 museums for free, take a free canal tour and use public transportation for free. Since we do not like visiting museums, we only entered the wax museum by paying the entrance fee. We bought a GVB card for transportation, it has daily or multiple options. With this card you can take the metro, tram and all buses. We paid 13.5 Euros for 1 day for the GVB card, the price becomes more economical as the number of days increases. There are plenty of CoffeeShops in the city. It is allowed to use soft drugs around here. Alcoholic beverages are not sold in coffee shops, smoking is prohibited inside 🙂 These are places where marijuana and marijuana are consumed freely. There are also cakes, with which you can feel like drinking 3-4 glasses of raki within an hour. Zaanse Schans We liked the towns and houses outside Amsterdam more than the inside… Zaanse Schans is almost an open-air museum, where you can see dozens of examples of the famous windmills of the Netherlands. You can also visit the cheese factory and shop for cheese. We were amazed by the gardens and naturalness of the houses in this area. It was so calm and natural that we couldn’t help but wonder if we could live here permanently. You can reach the town of Zaanse Schans by train or by bus. Volendam is a peaceful, seaside town located about half an hour away from Amsterdam. You can reach it by bus number 110, which departs from behind “Central Station”. Seeing this place means getting to know the real rural life of the Netherlands. Netherlands does not mean Amsterdam. During your entire bus journey, you will see lush green nature and hundreds of animals grazing on it. Farmhouses offer a different beauty… When you come to Volendam, do not forget to visit Marken. Marken used to be an island, but it was filled and a land connection was provided. Windows decorated with colorful flowers, lush, tidy gardens and, of course, perfect houses… The name of the Netherlands, 18% of whose land is below sea level, means Low Land. If you are going to Marken from Volendam, you can take a ferry or take a bus. To go by bus, you need to make 2 transfers. Frankly, after a few short bus rides in Amsterdam, you’ll get the hang of it. We strongly recommend that you take the most comfortable shoes with you when you go to Amsterdam. What can you buy for yourself and your loved ones about Amsterdam? – You can buy cheese by tasting it in markets, or you can also buy it from many supermarkets. – Traditional shoes! You can buy traditional sandal-type Dutch shoes, which were originally designed and used in wood. – Tulip bulb! Another feature of Amsterdam is tulips, as it is known… Mavimore Tourism is a travel agency registered with TÜRSAB. Document number: A-8307
