Brief History of Moldova | Mavimore

Moldova declared its independence in August 1991 following the collapse of the Soviet Union and was recognized by the United Nations a year later. Goths, Huns, Avars, Hungarians, Cumans, Tatars and Mongols have ruled the country, where traces from the Paleolithic period can be found, until today. The country, which was divided between the Ottoman Empire, Romania and Russia in the 19th century, joined Romania after the Russian Revolution. The country, which entered Moscow’s orbit in 1924, remained under Soviet control. The country, which started its struggle for independence in the 1980s, has gone through many bloody struggles. Transnistria, located in the east of the country, is struggling to separate from Moldova and declare its independence due to economic reasons. Although it has declared its autonomy, the United Nations has not yet recognized Transnistria. Mavimore Turizm is a travel agency registered with TÜRSAB. Document number: A-8307
