At first, it worked to prevent piracy activities and then directly to control the emirates in the region, and a formation called the Trucial States was built. After this, the Trucial States, which remained under British influence until 1971, were established under the name of the United Arab Emirates. The economy of the region, which lived off the pearl trade until the beginning of the 20th century, collapsed with the start of cultured pearl production.
