Venezuela has a deep-rooted history dating back 15 thousand years to human life. It is estimated that nearly a million people lived in the region before the Spanish colonists. Christopher Columbus, who came to the region in the 15th century, called the region the Land of Kindness. Colonists, who discovered the coastal regions of the country, established dominance over all lands over time. By the 16th century, the local people living in the region became Roman Catholics and religious unity was achieved. However, there were many rebellions and struggles for independence until the 19th century. These struggles were successful when Francisco de Miranda declared independence in 1811. The Venezuelan War of Independence, which started with the declaration of independence, was lost with the Caracas Earthquake in 1812 and the first Venezuelan State was destroyed. The state was declared again on August 7, 1813, but it did not last long. The region gained independence on June 24, 1821, thanks to Simon Bolivar. Bolivar founded Greater Colombia, which included Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Panama, Northern Peru, Western Guyana and Northwest Brazil. Venezuela was part of Greater Colombia until 1830; It declared its independence in 1830 under the leadership of Jose Antonio Paez. Paez is the country’s first president.
