Festival Mediaval is held in the city of Selb, near the German-Czech border. Medieval music is also played at the event, where medieval life is fictionally recreated, including shows imitating medieval battles. The festival is held in September. Germany is famous for the music festivals it organizes for its famous composers. The most famous of these festivals, the Richard Wagner Festival, is celebrated in the city of Bayreuth. The festival, where the composer’s operas are staged, takes place in the summer months. Karneval, the carnival celebrating Mardi Gras, starts on November 11.
