If you want to have a wonderful weekend getaway in summer weather, it would be beneficial to head to İğneada. Not too far, not too close! Once you can get away from the traffic of the city you live in and the concrete surrounding it, you reach a paradise on earth, Thrace’s window opening to the Black Sea, by passing through long, narrow and occasionally winding roads. So, where is İğneada? It is located 250 kilometers from Istanbul, 165 kilometers from Edirne and 100 kilometers from Kırklareli. Wherever you are, don’t think twice, when you get off work on Friday, get rid of all your burdens and head towards İğneada. While this place is a holiday destination with its long beach in summer; When the weather starts to cool down a little, it turns into one of the favorite addresses of nature lovers and those who want to escape from the tiredness and intensity of the week. Europe’s largest floodplain forests: İğneada Floodplain Forests With its geographical isolation and pristine nature, İğneada also hosts Europe’s largest floodplain forests. Due to the alluvial dunes in front of Mert, Saka and Erikli lakes, the flooded forests, which swell with the melting of snow in winter and are formed as a result of the backflow of streams, turn into a riot of colors, taking on every color from blue to green, from orange to red. In addition, the region has a different ecosystem and is on the bird migration route. You can observe hundreds of species of birds during migration in this unique geography. If you are one of those who prefer to explore nature and integrate with it, İğneada promises a travel route that will take you about a day. In trekking tours, which are generally accompanied by a professional guide, you drive to the entrance of the forest. Then the exploration begins. Your clothes need to be suitable for this long and tiring walk. For example, there is an icy stream you have to cross to enter the forest. We had to cross this icy stream to enter the forest. Shoes were kicked off, socks were taken off, we managed to cross the street with slow steps, feeling the ice cold water down to our cells. Although this is generally the starting point of trekking tours, we left our vehicle behind and covered the 8-kilometer road on foot. In short, we broke new ground on this route. From now on, a long and enjoyable journey awaits you. The part of our long and enjoyable journey to the sea was magnificent. Especially if you are doing this route in autumn, you should see that riot of colors! While we were taking occasional breaks, chatting about history and nature with new friends, taking photos to visualize natural beauties, bird sounds, traces of wild animals, human voices, and lunch breaks, we suddenly saw the sea. The first section of approximately 14 kilometers was completed half full and half tired. But the real adventure begins at this point. There was only a long beach between us and İğneada. Walking on sand is difficult, like walking with iron shoes on your feet. Floodplain Forests on one side, lakes that form occasionally, and waves crashing wildly onto the land on the other… The view is indescribably beautiful, the journey is difficult… The visual beauty you experience suppresses the rebellion of your body. And the haste and excitement of not being able to reach İğneada, which seems far away, turns into screams of joy rising within you with every step you take. The journey ends with 28 km left behind. Calmness, fatigue, new people, colors, waters, beautiful animals raise the voice inside you: “I must do it again, definitely!” Mavimore Tourism is a travel agency registered with TÜRSAB.
