Social organization in India is subject to the caste system. The caste system, which is an element of discrimination that disregards human rights principles, has been prevalent in India for a long time, and its influence is dominant in every aspect of the lives of the locals. In the caste system, marriages within castes are possible. People in the same caste can only marry each other. The caste system also determines who will do which profession. For a long time in India, people were forbidden from eating together; because the upper castes did not welcome this and considered themselves dirty while coexisting with the lower castes. Although this distinction has been largely abolished today, it is still possible to see the old rules in rural areas. Classification in the caste system is not based on wealth or poverty, it is based on the principles of Hinduism. There are four main layers (Varna) in the caste system. These layers are listed as Brahmans (scholars and priests), Kshatriyas (soldiers, princes and senior officials), Vaishyas (merchants, landowners and farmers) and Shudras (workers and slaves) and are divided into lower layers (Jatis) among themselves. Apart from these, there are also those who are not included in the caste system. These are known as Pariahs, they are considered the lowest rung of humanity and have no rights.
