I don’t know where our love for Greece comes from 🙂 As a husband and wife, we can’t get enough of Greece. Not only is it cheap, but its cuisine fascinates us 🙂 We met Rhodes Island when we got married and went on our honeymoon on 27.05.2012. The taste of a great season, great timing is still on my palate… By the way, be careful, if your passport contains Cyprus entry and exit, you cannot enter Greece! We leave our car in Fethiye and take the ferry to go to Rhodes. Ferries or catamarans depart from Marmaris to the island. Since we dropped my sister and her husband off at Dalaman Airport, Fethiye seemed closer to us. Our rental car, which we arranged in Istanbul before going to the island, was delivered to us at the port. The man who delivered the car said to lock the doors, open the window and throw the key inside the car while leaving the car 🙂 Rhodes is the largest of the 12 islands of Greece in the Aegean Sea… Being an “Old City” and a “New City”, which can be understood even at first glance. The city of Rhodes is divided into two. Usually, the “Old Town” on Rhodes Island attracts the attention of visitors. The Old City is a city built inside a medieval castle consisting of 6 gates. Rhodes Castle, a huge fortress made of 4 kilometers long high sandstone walls, will take you on a journey through time. Rhodes is considered one of the best-preserved medieval cities fortified with walls and has taken its place on UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage Monuments List. As you stroll along its pavements, you will admire the knightly buildings, walls surrounded by moats and battlements, churches, mosques, palaces, squares, gardens and courtyards of houses. Additionally, this castle is home to the area called the old bazaar, where shops selling tourist goods, taverns, shops and jewelers are located. This ancient city is divided into two. “Colachium” is the area where the knights stayed and that is why they built the most important buildings here. The real city is “Burgo”; It is the area where local people live. These strong castle walls built by the knights were able to resist the Ottoman attacks in 1480 during the reign of Mehmet the Conqueror. Rhodes was defeated by the army of Suleiman the Magnificent in 1522, and the island remained under the ownership of the Ottoman Empire for approximately 400 years. On the first day, we took our Rhodes map and visited the areas close to our hotel. Our New City, Old City holiday has not started yet, we must first feed ourselves and drink our ouzo 🙂 This is our map, if we do not explore the island step by step, our holiday will be incomplete 🙂 We are going in and out of every beach, we are sure that we will find a place that we will call this place 🙂 But every place we visit is better than the other, what do we decide? It is not possible to give up or sit down and stretch your legs, because you are wondering what you will see in the next bay and continue quickly. We are also in love with the bays on the Greek islands… Lindos is the most touristic place on the island. Depending on the part of the island where we stayed, it is not possible to go there directly, of course we go in and out of all the bays, we have our map… Anthony Quinn Bay Ladiko Beach Saint Paula Beach was like a pool, we spent half a day here. Lindos region is our favorite region of Rhodes Island… We did not go up to the castle on the hill, but you can go up and visit with donkeys. It’s not enough to look from here, we plan to go down and settle on this perfect beach 🙂 Yes, we found our bay, this is the place we were looking for 🙂 This place is wonderful, we came here every day, we never jumped here and we couldn’t get enough, how can we get enough, we are on our honeymoon and we are in the most beautiful bay of Rhodes Island. There is also a small church in the bay, a few brides came while we were sunbathing 🙂 The wedding was held with 8-10 people accompanied by the violin, the bridesmaids wearing the same clothes… Lindos resembles Bodrum, in fact, white houses, beautiful streets… Tsampika Beach Continue on the road: ) We are in the Lindos region. There is also a Turkish cemetery in the Lindos region, but it is about to disappear due to neglect. We spend our time happily… We love Greece so much 🙂 We eat grilled calamari, Greek salad, octopus, which we can’t get enough of, in front of that perfect view on the beach, as we do every day. We ordered the salad and of course the ouzo and are waiting 🙂 We have never eaten the grilled calamari that I had on Rhodes Island until today: ( Yes, one of the weddings took place in the church They pass among the people sunbathing on the beach with the bridesmaids, and we raise our ouzo and watch them. It is impossible for me to forget this day. When it is time to leave the table, I remember that we have a 30 km ride to the hotel and we have to use a car in the parking lot:) My love, we need to go to the sea and recover. We go into the sea, we swim, we swim… Strong, in good condition. Am I the one who misses too much? I think it’s me 🙂 In the car, I take my head out of the window and throw it to the wind to come to my senses, it doesn’t work, I put my head in and take my feet out, it still doesn’t work 🙂 My head in, feet out, feet in, head out:) He’s strong, my love, he’s watching me in astonishment, saying, “What are you doing?” There’s nothing to help me come to my senses. I am working! You have found an interesting method, keep going my dear 🙂 We did not like the sea and bays on the other side of the island. But no matter what, you should definitely visit every inch of the island. You will definitely find something that will make you very happy. When my love insists on buying honey, he searches for the village where honey is sold, and since the uncle at the grocery store does not know the English language for honey, we cannot come to an agreement and leave that village. It is not possible to just go on the road, but of course we need to enter every village 🙂 Butterfly Valley Rhodes will have to be summarized, I think it was a very complicated article 🙂 You should definitely take a city tour, ancient city tour, Mandraki Port, etc. The Colossus of Rhodes, one of the 7 Wonders of the World in ancient times, was located in Mandraki Port. There is no statue at the moment, but there are deer statues where the statue’s feet stood. Butterfly Valley, for your information, June is the breeding month of butterflies… There is an old city and a new city on Rhodes Island. Frankly, I liked the old city more. New city; It covers the hotels area, the popular night entertainment center where the beaches are concentrated is more lively… The old town is the main exciting place, you are in the Middle Ages here. This region is on the world heritage list and is surrounded by magnificent walls built by the Knights of Rhodes… Every part of the island is surrounded by Greek flags. Water was transported to Rhodes Island by ships. However, the European Union, which supports olive farming, was paying 3.5 Euros per kilo of olives to the island. In Greece, unemployment is 9.8%, while in Rhodes the unemployment rate is zero. We were very surprised when we learned this. I read an article like this about Rhodes. I didn’t want to pass without sharing. Dividing the region into 12 parts and distributing them to the gods, Zeus, the god of gods, forgot the sun god. In return, he gifts the sun god with a legendary beauty, a nymph. The sun god falls in love with the water fairy and they get married, but the sun god cannot accept that his beloved water fairy is mortal and turns her into an island to make her immortal; To RHODES… Would we go to Rhodes Island again? Yes, we will definitely go. Whether we were on our honeymoon or at the beginning of summer, we spent our holiday focused on the sea and the bays due to our longing for the sea; We can visit again to see the old city, new city, walls, churches and many places we have not seen. The taste of Rhodes remains on our palate… Rhodes Mandiraki Port Mavimore Tourism is a travel agency registered with TÜRSAB. Document number: A-8307
Cortina Travel Guide: Skiing in Cortina, Italy | Mavimore
