Sri Lanka stands out with its tea, rubber, coffee and sugar trade. This understanding of trade, to which the modern ports built by the British colonial powers made a great contribution, changed in the period between 1948 and 1977, when the socialist regime returned. Following this period in which the nationalization policy was followed, the country’s economy evolved into a free market economy in 1977 and began to provide opportunities for private enterprises.
