Thassos can be reached by ferry service, which takes 2 hours from Kavala and 45 minutes from Keramoti. There is no advance reservation for the ferry. Flights are frequent and prices are very affordable. It takes 3 hours to reach Keramoti by car from the Ipsala border gate. Those who want to travel can linger in Dedeağaç on the way. To go without a car, you can take the Istanbul-Thessaloniki bus and get off in Kavala. We decided to spend our 2013 Ramadan holiday on Thassos Island in the winter of 2013. We made our hotel reservation on www.booking.com as usual. I have to say that it is among the most expensive hotels on the island in terms of price. You can find very cheap prices on Thassos Island, even with a room price of 40 TL per person in 2013. On our next visit, we stayed elsewhere on the island for a double room price of around 100 TL with bed and breakfast for two people. We liked Makryammos Beach the most. It is also the beach of the hotel we stayed in… Limenas is the capital and largest city of the island. Keramoti ferries dock here. Almost everyone staying on the island comes here to spend the night, eat and spend time. In addition to restaurants, taverns and cafes, there is a bazaar for evening strolls, which is common in every holiday town. Thassos, the Greek island most easily reached from Istanbul, was once famous for its Muscat grapes. We call it Thassos, the Greeks call it Thassos. It is actually very easy to reach the island from Istanbul. The roads are very comfortable. We reached the border gate in 2.5 hours. Thassos Island was an island we were looking forward to seeing. Well, we are already in love with the Greek islands. After a 2.5-hour journey, passport procedures were completed at the border gate as slowly as ever 🙂 These people are so relaxed that they enjoy hanging around while you impatiently wait to cross 🙂 After crossing the border, it is only 30 minutes away from the border, where we often enjoy spending a day and a night. We spent our time in Alexandroupoli. Dedeağaç is a place where my dear husband can go even just to eat. Early the next morning, we left for Keramoti to catch the ferry. We were on the ferry after a 1-hour journey and we were minutes away from reaching the island. The seagulls on the ferry are so used to humans that they come and eat bread from your hands. I recommend you have something to throw at them with you. I can say that when the ferry approached the island, we were amazed by the green and blue of the island. Green and blue suit this island so well that we impatiently waited for the ferry to dock. Of course, we have our map and a list of places we need to visit. Do not think that these are the hotel’s zoo, after the wire fences there are mountains and forests. The hotel put up wire fences to prevent deers from entering the hotel. The deer have solved the problem and their bellies are always full 🙂 Giola is next. We are moving towards Giola. Giola was a little difficult to find. Even though we can go to a certain point by car, we have to walk the remaining distance and without knowing how far we have to walk, we start walking in bad conditions, including soil, stones, slopes and heat 🙂 It was so difficult for Güçlü to walk 🙂 Again? Never : ) Giola should be visited when the sun is up, the water is clearer and clearer. According to legend, the god Zeus created the pool and Aphrodite was swimming on it. Therefore, it is also known as “Aphrodite’s tears”. According to another legend, the pool forms the eye of Zeus. Zeus was watching his mistress with that eye. Whether it is a gift from nature or the gods, you should definitely visit the Giola natural pool. We spent the rest of the day circling the island and taking short breaks. We need to find the most beautiful bay. The next morning, after our breakfast, we set out towards Marble Beach, also known as Saliara Beach, which is right next to us. You need to either come here very early in the morning and leave at noon, or come in the evening. Despite these drawbacks, Marble Beach is a place you should come and see. A beach covered in white marble dust due to the marble mine near Marble Beach. Therefore, it looks like the beach of a tropical island. It’s a truly magnificent sight when viewed from the outside. However, a beach club has been built here, it is full of sun loungers, loud music is playing, there is not even a place to swim, let alone take a step, on this beautiful beach. Next is Kazaviti Village 🙂 With my dear husband’s description… You are returning to Kazaviti Village from Prinos. After climbing the mountain for about 10 minutes, you cross a bridge when you enter the village. Ahead, you turn right onto a cobblestone road. The road takes you to Kazaviti restaurant:) I think Kazaviti is the most authentic, most untouched village on the island. The stone buildings built at the foot of the mountain almost shine among the trees in every shade of green. We have to feed Güçlü first 🙂 Then we will walk around the village. Otherwise he won’t even take a step 🙂 You should definitely eat under these trees. Let’s see what we ate 🙂 and we definitely recommend it; TAZZIKI, ARUCULA SALAD, STUFFED SPRINGS, FAVA. The sunset in the village is wonderful… Like all good things, this too has come to an end. Thassos is among our favorites 🙂 Mavimore Tourism is a travel agency registered with TÜRSAB.
